2022 Conference Update

Updated: 1/16/22
We were informed on January 14th that in light of the continuing high COVID numbers due to the Omicron variant, the BCTF Executive Committee passed a resolution banning in-person meetings until at least the end of May, 2022. As a result, we are not permitted to hold our conference as planned. As a tiny group of volunteers who run the association in addition to our regular teaching assignments, the BCAEA Executive have reluctantly decided that we don’t have the time or resources necessary to pivot to a virtual conference on less than a month’s notice. We didn’t make this decision lightly, and like you, are immensely disappointed that all our planning for an in-person conference is now for naught.

I already registered. What happens now?

  • Your registration will be cancelled automatically. You don’t need to cancel it yourself.

  • Every person who registered will automatically receive a full refund. There is no need to request a refund.

  • Refunds can only be issued to whatever credit card used to register. This process could take several weeks so we ask for your patience.

  • Please don’t file a dispute with your credit card company. We are working hard to refund everyone as quickly as we can.

  • Please direct any further refund questions you may have to our conference registration service: help@easyreg.ca

  • Your patience and understanding is truly appreciated!

2020 Conference

Our 33rd annual conference is now history, and 488 of you enjoyed the great lineup of sessions Karen Gadowsky put together once more, starting with Ivan Coyote as Keynote, and nearly three dozen other sessions covering a wide variety of topics.

Thanks to all of you who downloaded the conference app and allowed us to get the bulk of our sessions evaluated electronically, instead of by paper. It not only saves a tree or two, but also saves an immense amount of work totalling up things by hand. Watch for more app improvements next year.

We look forward to seeing you in February, 2022.

2020 Conference Highlights

Have a look at a few of the photos from the conference. Once again Chef Lori Pilling and the incredible kids from the Delta Secondary Cafeteria Program did an amazing job catering the Schmooze! Thanks also to Namoorsh Ready and the student bartenders from The Gathering Place. You did a fabulous job for us once more. And finally, thanks to the 99.999% of you who graciously signed our newly required alcohol waiver. And to that one crabby guy who didn’t want to do it, thanks for venting and finally capitulating!
